Garsington Opera

28. May - 22. July 2025
"Opera jewel with spectacular opera pavilion"

Nestled in the gentle, hilly landscape of the Chiltern Hills, this opera jewel is idyllically located away from the hustle and bustle of London and yet only an hour away from the vibrant metropolis. Experience a first-class opera experience on this traditional huge English country estate. Garsington invites its visitors in the afternoon to get in the mood for a wonderful evening with a traditional afternoon tea, a stroll through the park or a glass of champagne. Enjoy outstanding opera performances in the spectacular Opera Pavilion, an intimate auditorium, picturesque scenery, a luxurious picnic during the long interval and a warm welcome. The magical finale of the evening, when darkness falls, candlelight creates a warm atmosphere and the moon is reflected in the lake, also provides unforgettable moments.

Frequently asked questions - Good to know

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the dress code?

There is no official dress code. Many guests make the most of their visit to the opera to dress up for the special occasion and dress elegantly. Gentlemen like to wear a dark suit or dinner jacket with a black bow tie or tie, ladies an elegant evening or cocktail dress (long or short).

We recommend that ladies do not wear pumps, but flat shoes so you don't sink into the grass when strolling through the grounds.

Picnic - What if it rains?

If you don't trust the English weather, we will be happy to reserve a table for you either in the restaurant, a marquee or a private pavilion.

Are there alternatives to the picnic?

If you prefer a fine, served dinner in a restaurant, the restaurant offers a very good alternative.

How long does the long performance interval last?

The famous long performance interval lasts approx. 90 minutes

Is a visit suitable for people with reduced mobility?

In principle, yes!

Please clarify with us before booking what requirements we need to take into account during the organisation. The festival organisers have a team of assistants who will make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible.
